Anything, Anywhere.

In 2014, we were local entrepreneurs managing the development and construction of the first utility-scale solar power plant in Africa.

Our multinational client found itself in a bit of a bind. Their expatriate staff weren’t adjusting very well, and uncharacteristic mistakes were being made. The vice president of the company asked the CEO of Remote if they would take over Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) management. While it carried substantial risk, we agreed.

Thus began an epic adventure that would span more than a decade of building in East Africa, including some of the regions most iconic projects.

1,200 Hectare Nasho Farm: Remote’s First Megaproject

The Nasho Farm project was a global first-of-its-kind across the board:

  • The first commercial-scale irrigation system completely powered by solar power

  • The largest lithium-ion battery storage installation in the world

  • A new model of agricultural cooperation and investment on a scale unknown to Africa supporting 2,000 farming families

Although there are bigger projects yet to come, the complexity and integration of Nasho pushed our young company to emerge as a leader in the industry.
